Environmental Vaastu

Importance of trees and plants in the vicinity of a house or a factory is an undeniable fact for better quality of surrounding. We should also contribute towards achieving a healthy ecosystem in this regard. Sustainable development can be understood as achieving economic growth with ecological equilibrium for inter generational equity. We should not evade from our social responsibilities of providing habitable environment to the next generation. Plantation of trees inside and outside the campus improves the aesthetic charm and is also essential for minimizing the pollution hazards.

However plants, trees and herbs play a significant role in providing Vaastu effects in house as well. According to Vaastu Shastra few plants are prescribed whereas some are prohibited. Some trees are prescribed in any particular direction and some are prohibited in another direction. Some plants have symbolic effects of providing joy and bliss whereas some others are said to bring sorrow in the house. Even the plants have been said to represent certain planets and constellations of Zodiac and are thus advised to be planted for respective individual having corresponding Zodiac signs. From astrological perspective Avak-Hada Chakra has been suggested for plantation of trees, plants and herbs on the basis of ruler ship of planets in the astrological chart of an individual. For the sake of simplicity, few plants, trees and herbs have been listed below as prescribed plantations in the house and the campus.

  • Holy Basil (Tulsi) plant is an auspicious plant for the house and it has the medicinal properties as well. Its place in a house is North-East, North and East directions.
  • Mango is the representative tree for the Jupiter and it should be planted in the respective direction.
  • Money plant is for planet Venus. It’s an indoor plant and it brings peace and happiness in the house.
  • Pomegranate is also another plant of Venus which can be planted in South-East direction of the house.
  • Flowers are however good aesthetically as well as for medicinal purposes and purification of surroundings.
  • Likewise Aegle marmelos commonly known as Bael tree is also an auspicious tree and is representative of Jupiter therefore it should be planted in North-East zone.
  • Coconut tree are also auspicious trees. They represent planet Mars and should be planted in South direction or in any direction whose ruling planet is friendly with Mars.
  • Any tree with thorns is not good in the house however Rose and Shami tree are exceptions.
  • Shami tree is very auspicious tree and is prescribed to be worshipped by the individual having malefic Saturn. Its place in the house is in the right side while going out of the house.
  • Generally heavy and taller trees are prescribed in West and South directions of the house and smaller plants and herbs are advisable in North and East directions. This is for the simple reason that these vegetations do not obstruct the path of positive energy coming from North-East direction and preventing the same from going out from South-West direction.
  • However creeping plants on the walls of the house are not advisable because they will conceal any crack or corrosion on the walls which in anyway will adversely affect the health of the family members.
