Slopes & Effects

While constructing a house, major emphasis is being given to the slopes of the land as well as the house. Slope defect which is known as Plava Dosha in Vaastu Shastra is considered to be an important factor influencing the progress of the family members.

The lowest level of the house should be in the North-East followed by North-West. South-East corner should be higher than North-West but lower than the South-West corner. This arrangement has been suggested in Vaastu Shastra because of the movement of energies inside the house. Due to the combined effect of gravitational force, rotation and revolution of Earth and the Geo-magnetic effects of Earth, the energy enters into the house from North-East corner from the lowest level then moves upward in the North-West direction. From North-West it goes straight in the South-East corner and then it moves towards South-West direction while continuously moving upwards. This way it follows the path of letter S. That is the reason for making the walls lowest in the North-East direction and the highest in the South-West direction. Same principles apply in the case of the rooftops and ceilings as well.

Effects of slopes:

  • North-East slope of the land is the most beneficial slope as per Vaastu principles. It gives health, wealth and prosperity to the native.
  • North and East slope of the land gives all kinds of happiness and prosperity,
  • Slope in the South-East direction invites litigations and bad health for the females of the house.
  • Lowest North-West creates problems associated with the neighbors, friends and well wishers.
  • Lowest South gives health problems for the females whereas the lowest South-West brings all sorts of agonies, perils and the failures in the family.
  • Similarly the lowest West has all the effects of planet Saturn, which is mainly responsible for delays in every aspects of life.

The best way to rectify these slope defects is to make the slopes as per Vaastu principles either with the use of earth work or higher constructions in the affected direction or by using mirrors in particular ways under the supervision of any Vaastu expert.

Defective slopes of house and the land can be seen in the natal chart of the native also which is evidently clear in the astrological analysis of the horoscope. Lower North, North-East and East directions correspond to the exalted planets of the respective houses in the horoscope whereas the lower South, South-East, South-West and West can be seen as the debilitated planets of corresponding houses in the natal chart of the native.
