Proper place for the kitchen according to Vaastu shastra is South-East kitchen and the reason for this can be attributed to the fact that the fire element in the house gets its due place. Alternatively North-West corner is a preferred place for kitchen. Proper placement of kitchen in a house results in mutual respect and understanding amongst family members. However defects in this corner can create multiple problems for the family members in the house ranging from litigations to the ill health of female members of the family.
Layout of kitchen: —–
- Stove or burner should be kept in the South-East corner of the kitchen;
- Sink for washing utensils should be in the North-East corner;
- While cooking, one should face the East direction;
- All heating items such as OTG, heater, should also be placed in the South-East corner;
- Color of the kitchen should be light yellow or pink but never be any dark colour such as Navy blue, Black or dark green as these are primarily watery colours.
There are some specific defects with respect to location of the kitchen in a house. Although these defects are not the only reasons for the effects mentioned below but these symptoms are prominently visible if other Vaastu principles are followed.
- The food will hardly be tasty if the kitchen is in South.
- If the kitchen is in South-West, it will adversely affect the health of female members of the house and occurrences of theft can’t be ruled out.
- In the West side kitchen expenditure will outweigh the income and financial crisis will be always felt by the owner.
- North-West kitchen means frequent arrival of guests. Excessive expenditure will make the lady irritable and in the long run becomes a patient of hypertension.
- Kitchen in the North makes the females unwell and over expenditure in matters of health issues.
- North-East placement of kitchen is the worst amongst all. It is one of the Maha Doshas of North-East corner. It results in domestic quarrel, wastage of money in irrational manners, absolute lack of respect for the elders etc.
- Kitchen in the center of the house means a serious problem for the family as a whole and will result in major surgeries in the family. This being another most serious defect should be avoided at all cost as there has not been any effective remedy for it so far.
Remedies:
Remedies for the wrong placements of kitchen can be applied with the use of colours, crystal balls, pyramids, some structural changes etc. in order to minimize the effect of such defects.
